Det lär väl inte ha undgått så många att the Beatles fullständiga back-katalog släpps remastrad inom kort. Nämligen 9 September, (09-09-09).
Utgåvan innehåller Beatles 12 studio album, Magical Mystery Tour samt Past Masters Vol. I and II i en box. I boxen finns även en DVD med 13 minidokumentärer, en om varje album. Dokumentärerna innehåller arkivfilmer, unika bilder och aldrig tidigare offentliggjort småprat i studion.
Dessutom släpps en box om 10 cd - The Beatles in Mono.
Beatles blir också tv spel i form av The Beatles: Rock Band.
Beatles, som i och med Sgt. Pepper la grundstenen till det som skulle utvecklas till progressive rock, förtjänar givetvis en genomarbetad ljudförbättring av sin produktion.
En fingervisning om hur fantastisk deras musik kan låta i förbättrat skick fick man på The Beatles - Love, som kom härom året. Den tyckte jag var en enastående musikupplevelse som man blev lycklig av.
Det finns förutsättningar för att denna remastrade utgåva blir ett lyssningslyft av den typen. Bob Gendron, musikskribent på Tone Audio Magazine, beskriver t ex den remastrade Sergeanten så här:
“…Sgt. Pepper’s present the album as an entirely new adventure filled with immense detail, holographic soundstages, authentic studio dimensions, and shocking instrumental and textural surfaces that heretofore have been missing in action. Tracks such as “For the Benefit of Mr. Kite” seemingly float on an ethereal bed of studio effects, with tremendous top-to-bottom frequency extension revealing trippy surprises such as bells, wood blocks, congas, and various other percussive trinkets that possess a reach-out-and-touch presence”.
